Who I am?

After having walked in 2007 on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago, I decided to change my life and to dedicate it to the Way by taking over the gîte of the Way to the Star in 2009 ;

Since then, I have welcomed more than 40,000 pilgrims from all over the world along this millennial route in a spirit of true exchange and sharing in all simplicity.

In October 2019, I took up mypilgrim’s staff again to immerse myself and recharge my batteries in the spirit of the Way, sothat I can welcome you even better.

Once again this year, the Way to the Star opens its doors to you, pilgrims, hikers or holiday makers; alone in groups or with your family for a night or more, in dormitories or in private boxes for 2 or 4 people. »

A LITTLE HISTORY

The Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago

The Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela was born in 44 A.D. by the Apostle James the Greater. Two of his disciples took out his body and put it in a boat that ran aground on the coast of Galicia in northeastern Spain. The queen of the time offered her palace to put the body of Saint James in it.

In 813 the Way is rediscovered and all the Christianity of the time goes to Compostela, also called “the Field of Stars”. The Middle Ages were the glory days of the Way, then it was forgotten during the Enlightenment, the Wars of Religion and the French Revolution, but it regained all its importance in the 1980s thanks to the Jacquaires associations.

All along the Way, there are chapels, abbeys, refuges, lodgings, sometimes “donativo” welcoming the pilgrims and giving them the possibility of accommodation, food and even medical care when providence provides.

The spirit of solidarity, sharing, respect, acceptance of oneself and of others reigns on the Way.

In 1998, the “Ways to Compostela in France” were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The logo of the Compostela pilgrimage is the stylised yellow shell on a blue background which represents European universality.

The credencial is the obligatory and essential “passport” for the pilgrim who wishes to find welcome (especially in Spain) and to have “la Compostella” : the final document of arrival in Santiago de Compostela and the beginning of a new Life for everyone
